Like many of you, my journey through life has taken many improbable twists and turns. I’ve had to change course and adapt consistently over the last twenty years. Today, I’m starting over again and creating an even newer life.
Each of us carries baggage as we embark upon our respective new lives. For me, I have collected A LOT of baggage over the last two decades. A buffet of events that'll provide me with content for the next fifty years if I choose. Among other things, I have lupus, fibromyalgia, cognitive impairment, and ME/CFE. Each of these chronic illnesses causes debilitating pain, inflammation, and unpredictable side effects. Together, these ailments make navigating through my life seem like an increasingly difficult obstacle course. Unfortunately, these conditions forced my early retirement from a career that I loved. To add extra flavor to the mix, I’ve had numerous surgeries and broken bones. Oh, did I mention that I’m an empty nester and I’ve had a so-called grey divorce? Yeah, I've been through some things, but I try to keep going every day. For me there's too much life left to live and so many things I want to do.
So, why did I create Amazing Next Chapters™? Because over the last 20 years, family, friends, and acquaintances have come to me for advice on how to manage their own life altering experiences. They know I’ve been through it all and I am still finding ways to eke out a meaningful life. In short, my experiences and continuous need to adapt to my changing situation has made me somewhat of an expert who others have come to for advice. Now, I want to share my experience and tools with more people similarly situated. I also want to learn from others who’ve experienced life altering changes because I don't have all the answers.
Obviously, every person's situation is different. No two are the same. As such, neither my experiences nor my advice is meant to replace your own doctor’s advice. That said, together we can share our collective experiences and knowledge in hopes of helping others to adapt and create meaningful lives themselves.
Like I always tell people: Change is constant in life, but you must keep going. There's always time to create another Amazing Next Chapter™. Let's get there together. 💜
